Shame has two members Michelle Scally and Aerron Perry. Shame represents a synthesis of music and the spoken word. The music is arranged specifically to enhance and promote the natural rhythm within the words of the tracks. Each being unique bearing it's own characteristics within the realms of performance poetry and/or song.

Poetry is the basis for the lyrics, they carry strong messages and meanings that all can relate to in an individual and personal way. The end result is a thoroughly engaging and entertaining performance that is as much at home in art galleries and theatres as it is in cocktail bars and night clubs.

On stage Michelle is in her element. Audiences are captivated by her demure and sophisticated appearance coupled with charisma and energy which extends from each performance. Shames material is abundant and diverse allowing sets to cater for different atmospheres and venues.

Current Projects

We are always working on new tracks and ideas. Although we do not like the Idea of labelling ourselves and prefer to see our work as a network of ideas rather than isolated products, the descriptions below should give a feel for what we are trying to achieve.

At the moment two main areas have developed which we are concentrating on.

1. Spoken Word - Michelle is continuing to perform her poetry as much as ever. This work also provides a firm base for most of her lyric writing for the other projects. Examples of Michelles poems such as Awaking and Sierra Leone can be found on this web site.

2. Song - This project has developed into an outlet for Aerron and Michelle to further their song writing skills, taking themes and ideas from Michelles poems, enhancing them with music without destroying the original poetic style. Over the last year Shame have been writing tracks with Singer/songwriter Roisin O'Shea. All the tracks continue to have a strong rhythmic yet laid-back feel to them.

The Future ?

In the short term - we are working to continue to establish our sound in the Leeds area and build up our support network.

In the long term - we are putting plans into action to work with other Musicians and Singers and create a unique live experience which will showcase all our styles of music as well as incorporate new ones.
